N Scale Prairie 2-6-2 Steam Locomotive & Tender - ATSF #2129

The 2-6-2 steam locomotive, affectionately known as the "prairie" engine, began to appear along railroad lines running through the Midwestern prairies in the early 1900s. This N scale model, representing the ATSF #2129, boasts true-to-prototype body details, a die-cast chassis, and metal handrails.

The 2-6-2 configuration was developed as the first domestic freight engine with a trailing truck. Although its performance at high speeds left much to be desired, the 2-6-2 found itself useful on dual-service branch lines and logging lines.

This model features a skew-wound motor with bronze bearings, providing engine and tender electrical pick-up. It also has traction tires for greater pulling power, performing best on 11.25" Radius curves or greater. The E-z Mate Mark II coupler on the tender completes the N scale 1:160 representation.
