N Scale Union Pacific Excursion Train 7-Car Set

The Union Pacific (UP) is the largest railroad in the United States, tracing its history back to the 1860s. The railroad maintains a fleet of historic locomotives and rolling stock for use at public day events and special business trips, known as "excursion trips." These trips provide an opportunity for the railroad to showcase its operational history to new generations of railroad fans, both young and old.

The excursion trains feature a mix of majestic steam locomotives, such as the FEF-3 #844 (the "living legend"), and modern diesels, including the UP's fleet of Heritage SD70ACe locomotives. The general public is invited to explore and even ride the UP's preserved passenger equipment.

Many of the UP's older heritage cars have been repurposed for these excursion trains, such as the 1962 vintage Baggage car "Promontory," which has been rebuilt into a traveling museum exhibit filled with interactive exhibits and memorabilia from the UP's past. An ex-Baggage Dormitory car has been even more drastically modified, gutted and rebuilt to house a diesel generator as a power car, providing head-end electrical power to the excursion trains pulled by Union Pacific's steam locomotives.

These cars, along with well-kept vintage Pullman and ACF-built luxury passenger cars, help preserve the historic golden era of US passenger trains as the UP continues to operate and support railroad exhibitions in the modern era.

Accompanying this historic lineup is a 7-car train set featuring modern-era heritage cars (locomotive sold separately). Fully ready to roll with no additional detail parts or assembly required, the set can be illuminated with optional interior lighting LED kits (sold separately). The set includes three unique UP cars, two of which are new and unique molds for this train. The elegant packaging is suitable for storage and display when the train is not in operation.
